    Marshall Plan for Haiti

My vision of a Marshall plan for Haiti includes bringing the police force to 20,000 and they must also be visible across all areas of the country to help their citizens feel safe and combat the growing gang problems; increasing the police force to 20,000 would also make foreign travelers feel safer and help the tourism industry. The international community should also run the Haitian government with the assistance of the current Haitian government. The international community should be allowed to control the aid that is coming into the country, due to the fact that Haiti and the Haitian government is one the most corrupt country and government in the western hemisphere. The Marshall Plan must also include the Haitian people by employing them to rebuild their own country, we can use the cash-for-work program to rebuild the countries schools, vast modern roadways, hospitals, community clinics, safe housing, government buildings, jails, police departments, tourism, agricultural, energy, and also making their current dams work more efficient to produce more electricity or build new dams and or other alternative energy sources.
For the future of the Haitian government, the international community should find about 3,000 to 5,000 high school graduates between the ages of 19-25 and send them to French speaking countries such as France or Canada to earn a Bachelor Degree for the next 5 to 6 years in areas such as economics, business, banking, technology, political science, health care administration, criminal justice, international law, environment, and agricultural. Educating these students should also be part of the Marshall Plan for Haiti because most of these students should be the future leaders of their country; the current government must not be allowed to remain in power due to the years of corruption. For the country educational system, the international community should seek the help of qualified educators in Haiti and also qualified educators form French speaking nations. The U.S and other countries should also build factories in the country to take advantage of the cheap labor force which would produce jobs for many and help the economy along with tourism and agricultural.

The government of Haiti did not, does not help the parents to send their children to school. They need to build more public schools so children can go to school and families will be able to stabilize themselves.

    Hi,
I do not think the governement should rush in reopening school in Port-au-Prince right now. It will be more chaos, when the country has so many deaths in the school system among teachers and students. I beleive the gorvernment should focus on those who have been traumatized by the sorrow event of January 12th,2010. How is the government plan in educating more than million school age kids, as up to now they can not even provide them with tent to have a good night sleep.

I totally agree with Sandra Colas. The goverment should now focus on getting all Haitians together and provide shelters. School reopening is part of the recovery but opening school now will put all the children and teachers that have survived the earthquake at risk. School should be in the goverment long-term project list if he has one because as we know our presidents are nothing but thieves and evil doers. I as Haitian Citizen wish that I could have done more for my people. I would advise Rene Preval to stop seeing himself as a president and step out as a regular Haitian Citizen that wants to help his nation. The world should see Haiti as a country that has no goverment. God melt this dirty goverment. I wish that US goverment could see Haiti like one of the US territories.

There are several noteworthy nonprofit organizations that work by sponsorship...A small monthy donation will sponsor a child, give them schooling and health benefits as well as benefits for the community and family. In return, the child communicates with you through letters. Such as Childrens fund.

I think this would be a way to "adopt" a child, change the world and give much needed funds where it will do a lot of good.
