I can only say that my ability to make comments on any CNN report on China (while I am in China) is an exercise in futility. In most cases I can't open the material.
Oh the outrage and ioaigndtinn. Did you even stop for a moment to consider that perhaps, just perhaps in your wildest dreams, he is a terrorist. Putting on a press badge does not make you immune from being a terrorist. I too am upset he has been held so long, he should have been shot immediately.

Response to "China" – >stop lying – I visit China several times a month and your claim of easy access to CNN, google, Facebook, etc. is a pure nonsensical lie. I regularly travel to Shanghai, Qingdao, Beijing, Shenzhen, Shenyang and a few other places. I love China and her people – the government there – not so much. (I'm half Chinese myself on my dad's side.)
Yes, most western hotels have CNN, BBC, etc. however as soon as anything negative about China is being mentioned we all get the "technical difficulties" sign. When people were protesting their land being stolen by corrupt communist party officials in Guangzhou and Hubei the "technical difficulties" spread to CNN, BBC, DeutcheWelle, etc. but strangely the CCTV (government sponsored) programs worked just fine. How convenient. Facebook access is very slow and can be blocked at any time, same with google searches. I typed "Guangzhou protests" in google search while I was visiting Shanghai, within minutes my Internet speed slowed to a trickle and later I got the "connection has been lost" message. I used to visit the Soviet Union when I was young. They too spend lots of resources on censorship but ultimately it'll all fail. Just like the SU – China too will evolve. One day China will be a true democracy neighboring friendly yet independent countries of Tibet and Uyghuristan. Why? Because that's what those people want – freedom and democracy. It might take many more years, many decades, however it's inevitable.
