Are the U.S. elections preventing peace in Syria?

The international community has been saying that Russia stands in the way of the world uniting to stop the bloodshed in Syria. But on the Amanpour program Tuesday night, Dmitri Simes – a highly connected Russia expert – told Christiane Amanpour that while Putin might not like it, the Russian president would not resist an international intervention in Syria. But in actuality, is it the U.S. elections that are creating a risk-adverse environment preventing stronger efforts to stop Al-Assad's war on his own people? Nicholas Burns, a top U.S. official in both the Clinton and Bush administrations, maintains that the U.S. is indeed laying the roadblocks for peace and Russia is still standing in the way.

This wouldn't be a problem if we hadn't gone into Iraq. That's what created today's war-weariness both at home and abroad. Absent that, intervention to protect the Syrians from Assad's campaign of outright genocide would just be a given. But now we've lost that trust and it'll take a long time (and several presidents) in order for us to get it back.

Yes, the upcoming American elections are making a unlilateral US action against Assad very unlikely. But does anybody doubt that if Russia and China had not vetoed UN resolutions similar to the ones on LIbya, that Bashar al-Assad's reign of terror would already be over? Putin keeps saying that the Syrians must decide their own political future. That is such a cynical statement. Does Mr. Putin think the Syrians have been deciding their "own political future" since the ascent of the Assad's dictatorship? Does he think Syrians will decide their government in the future with a boot against their head and detention and torture a threat to those who speak against out against Assad? Putin is not a fool, but perhaps he thinks the rest of the world is. The Syrian people are not fools and they will not forget.

Megalomania (the blind dictatorship ) :
At the past civilization monopolist named three -quarter of the world as backward world then they called it the growing world as compliment, who claimed civilization by the vulgar tongue they categorized
    American are progressive nation
    Syrian are backward nation
    Israeli are progressive nation
But 0n objective and depth look ……………what we will discover ?
America: has atom , advanced vehicles , the source of capitalistic (human blood seeker) ,bands of pillage , mafia also millions of unemployed , after all this lesions its leaders dominated by international Zionism and official insist to humiliation nations and rapine it.
Syria:maybe there is lack at the technique but it has nation believe in cooperation with other nations to built equitable world , it has talents to built new international community based on knowledge , art and, creation if Syrian allowed to walk , at the past Syrian never colonize anyone but they experienced the tyrannize of colonialism they always were against aggressive and exploitation but with equity and peace ,against Kondaliza Rice project (the inventive disorder) which aim to replace discipline and system by disorder
is this the democracy of foolish ?
We must ask Mrs. Clinton ,who is the underdeveloped and progressive?
Superficial and partial will avoid this question
Any description given for community just based on his existing situations , is unreal a lot of cavitations in addition to its achievements have the seeds for her ending and maybe have signs for crushing damage on humanity
Who export terrorism to Syria to make massacres and supporting by Zionism media he can't be democrat or humanitarian one
Who supporting the journalists killer at stations even if in secret we can't describing him as supporting for freedom he is backward criminal
Who counterfeit facts then use it as imperfect news he isn’t developed and civilized one

SFSF – Impossible to understand one word of your comment, except that of course the USA and the Zionists are responsible for the death of 15000 syrians.
