Inside a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan

August 6th, 2012
04:38 PM ET

On Monday, Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab described Bashar Assad's government as "terrorist regime" after he defected.  In a statement, the Sunni prime minister said that he was "joining the revolution.” Hijab joins many high-level defectors, and hundreds of thousands of refugees, crossing Syria's borders to Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. CNN's Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr takes us inside one of these refugee camps, in Jordan, where Syrians are having to adjust to blazing heat and swirling sands.

Perhaps some of the billions of dollars the USA sends to Israel and Egypt could go to helping these people who only want freedom.

This is a sectarian civil war. Notice that this defector was Sunni.

    Assad is Alawite (Shi'ite).
The Sunnis or the so called "activists" (armed with anti-tank weapons, suicide bombers, and plenty of AKs) have already promised an ethnic cleansing if they succeed. Sounding like terrorists?

Assad has been protecting the Christian population, when he is gone, they will be next.

Exactly. The rest of the world is staying out of this for that reason, no country wants that blood on their hands. The people are going to kill each other anyway, no matter who is in charge.
