French FM on North Korea’s threats: ‘World needs China’s help’
North Korea’s government sounds more menacing by the day.
Last week the country threatened a preemptive nuclear strike against the United States. On Monday, North Korea said it will abandon the 60-year old armistice that ended the Korean War.
The South Korean government is worried, and now there are even calls for Seoul to develop its own nuclear arsenal.
In the video above, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour has an exclusive interview with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius about what the world must do to quell the threat from the Korean Peninsula.
Fabius says North Korea’s threat must be taken “very seriously,” but also believes the West must engage in “acute talks” with China, which he believes can play a key role in finding a solution.

Didn't China already vote for that UNSC resolution? France is NOT a role model for promoting world peace. In defiance of the world community, it conducted multiple nuclear tests to improve its own nuclear weapon capability. France is a very hypocritical country. It's not qualified to lecture others about world peace.

Actually NO (I can use capital letters too!) country is "qualified to lecture others about world peace", and It's hard to find any "role model for promoting world peace". Possesing nuclear weapons and testing them is something but opressing populations (no, I'm not referring to the people of Tibet and of NK, no I ain't) is another, and which has been the most harmful ? (Ain't China a nuclear power too?..hmm... could I borrow your history book, please sir?)
But regardless of that, back to the topic: If any such country existed, what do you think it would tell on China? Probably something close to what our dear French FM said: China HAS (you were right, capital letters are quite useful) to reconsider its position with NK.
For the sake of PEACE (is this worth capital letters?), and of the NK people, China should move on, time for encouraging another successful communist regime has passed.
In this conflict, China is not the problem. North Korea and the United States are.
Hold China accountable for thier client states actions. Right down to the retaliatory nuclear strikes. Make the policy public. China abrupty becomes "helpful".

The issue of North Korean can only be dealt by the strategic cooperation between US and China. Therefore, Chinese security and humanitarian concern over North Korean has to be addressed and regarded from the perspective of United States. But it is pretty sad that the peace and stability of East Asia is not at the interest of the United States. To keep the some degree of tension in the region is the priority objective of US foreign policy.
