Of course it does either partially or signifantly. Philip Mudd is full of mud in his head blaming the boston bombing on Columbine similarity. Tell Philip Mudd its called radicalisation and most journalists and experts have agreed

I do not know much about the regulations and laws regarding press, online resources etc in the US. But these no doubt have a big impact and influence on how people think and consequently act, just like in schools, colleges, the authorities, teachers, lecturers have to consider very carefully before making decisions on what materials to deliver to their students and the wider communities. As far as we know, terrorism is strongly condemned by all societies and all religions, not just by the West and all other parts of the world but also by Islamic countries, Islam as well as all other religions. I believe the West and non Islamic countries could work together with Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan etc together with other Islamic groups and organisations to go through all these Islam and terrorist related materials to eliminate all the wrong doctrines and teachings in mosques, public places, papers and online ... which are aimed to brainwash, to influence and to encourage people to get involved in terrorist groups or commit such destructive acts upon innocent people and civilians all around the world. The very sad fact is that actually many self radicalised individuals are actually not devoted practising Islam, not reading the Quran or going to mosques etc until they become radicalised. Someway, somehow, once they have been radicalised, they suddenly become very devoted, believe strongly in God, God's purpose for them to commit such terrorist acts etc. Indeed, the terrorist groups, their intellectual people, leaders are abusing, manipulating the sacred doctrine, the Quran to produce wrong and sinful teachings, influences to control others. They are also abusing the rights for freedom of press and speech to spread their teachings too which is such a shame. Importantly I believe that many of these terrorist groups, the people who have been radicalised are very strong minded and determined, they are even mentally well prepared and willing to take their own lives in act of suicide bombings which means that it is just not simple and easy to change their minds, change their way of thinkings just by force, by threats of punishments etc, other methods, tactics really need to be in place such as education, counselling, preventing wrongful terrorist teachings and materials, talking sense and explaning destructive actions causing the pains and sufferings of millions of innocents and civilians which in no way can serve any purpose for God and in these methods, Islamic groups, organisations and teachers do have a very big part to play and we all need them to take their reponsibility to help tackle this problem.

It could be important for those who investigate terrorism and mental problems, but whether or not these brothers were somehow "radicalized" by foreign travel, online magazines and blogs is flatly irrelevant.

By all means, try to find anything that contributed to inspiring them to commit the terrible act they did in Boston, but don't use it to try to excuse what they did by even a hair.

They're Muslims. No further "inspiration" is required. We shouldn't assume that they mightn't have done it if not for some kind of egging-on from an exterior source. They needed none, and did it on their own.

Their own holy books contain ALL the inspiration anyone could want to go jihad and kill for Allah. This almost-desperate search to find some outside source that "radicalized" them or supported them is an attempt to tie al Qaeda in to this crime. Doing so makes it possible to keep telling us that it's al Qaeda who's the baddie, while they maintain the warm-fuzzy litany that "the VAST majority of Muslims are peaceful and tolerant". They don't want the bombing done by these brothers to hint that Islam itself is the motivator. Except that it IS. It ALWAYS is. It's the motivator of al Qaeda, too.

But even if they HAD been manipulated somehow, how can that excuse bombing people?

Each brother had a mind of his own, and could have applied it to reject anyone's attempt to "radicalize" them. If they were radicalized, it was entirely done by their own free will.

I'm a liberal. I can wish to look for excuses (in case there are any REAL ones) why somebody committed a crime. At least most of the time. But I refuse to go into denial for oil, or any other reason. Reality IS. A liberal has to accept reality, no matter how ugly it is, and then plan to ameliorate it or thwart it. Denying reality is self-destructive. A good liberal also does his homework. I've done mine on Islam for almost 20 years. Have you BOTHERED to read Quran and Hadith? Or do you just state things from second-hand sources as though they were truth? There is only ONE first-hand source on Islam: its holy books. Instead of speculating, read them, darn it!

These dudes killed for their god, pursuant to their god's DEMAND that they do jihad and slaughter infidels. The younger one claims it was done in retribution for the Afghan and Iraq wars, but he'd have done it anyway, because he and his brother had gone jihad, which means it's now their time to kill and kill and kill.

They are both Muslims. They went jihad. They killed for their god. They did it because they WANTED TO. For ISLAM. That's IT.

Anyone doubting this is welcome to download the Quran and Hadith. They are Islam's OWN holy books. They are Islam itself. READ them, end-to-end, and then you'll know what is behind all the evil things Muslims do in the world.

Islam is the inside-out of democracy. The prime directive of Islam is total global conquest. Islam is the worst threat humanity has ever known. It INTENDS TO BE.

Do your OWN homework. This is what you will learn. Our willingness to be goaded into denial of such a horrific threat is anti-survival. We could try to thwart their global conquest, but we have to acknowledge the threat first, and we keep refusing to do so. Therefore, Islam will win.

When a Christian has killed for his god, as the recent mass killer in Norway did, did you tell us: "Hey, he's a Christian, that's all you need to know." Of course not, and you should avoid uninformed and prejudiced generalizations about any religion. The vast majority of Muslims think the Tsarnaev brothers were nuts and their actions not Islamic, just as the vast majority of Christians feel the Norway mass murderer was a nut and his actions an insult to Christian morality.

Jihad-Holy War, Infidel – Non Believer. Islam is in itself an extremist religion without any distorted interpretation from another source. From the way they treat their woman to their intolerance of other religions. Muslims have been waging war against the Jews and Christians for centuries and will continue to do so. Two and a half million Muslims in the US and the trigger for them to commence with Jihad is in the Koran itself.

I think NO. I,m from EU. I,m not muslim beliver, I take a look for a couple of pages of that magazin. There is usual jihad stories. Nothing that extremly. They call muslim people to stand and to fight against teror, teror and terorist for them are everithing USA. That kids was to young. Maybe the older brother was angry about citizenship, maybe someone pay them.
Why a young kid like Johar, who is exelent medicine student do that terror attack. If they, i mean all muslim people hate americans, they can start a war of teror but attackin everithing that represent USA goverment, and not do suicidal attack and kill young people, kids and almost every one (mayoriti) who does not know what is war, terror etc.

I, m very sorry for everithing, nobody can find a peace of understanding that kids, but I think that someone learn them how to do bomb, when, why etc., to put a bomb. Nobady can wash mine brain and tell me what to do. My people was also in war with ex Jugoslavia country, and we hate many people because that, but there is no nothing similar like that terible terror atack.
