The hidden reality of rape on the job for immigrant women working in America's farming industry is exposed in a joint investigation by FRONTLINE, Univision News, The Center for Investigative Reporting, and the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley. In the video above CNN's Christiane Amanpour speaks to one of the filmmakers and to Dr. Emily Hartzog, who spent more than a decade providing medical care to undocumented immigrants and penned the book "Primary Care, A Doctor's Life North and South of the Border."
I guess nobody cares if Mexican women, working in American agriculture, get raped.
My, aren't we fine, noble, compassionate members of a "civilized" democracy?
If you're illegal, it's okay to get raped, and if you're Mexican, legal or otherwise, you also deserve rape.
When did racism and hate of women become national pastimes in my homeland?
A person who is racist and/or hates women is NO COUNTRYMAN OF MINE.
It would appear that I don't have many countrymen...
Those rapists should be punished by cutting off their whoppers and others will get learn from them
We spend so much time and money looking for human right violations abroad when in fact we have our hands full with atrocities that occur daily in our own back yards. We are no better than all the countries we condemn and until we can clean up our own mess, we have no right to play judge with other nations.
Skip just on the Job, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Ohio State, Florida, Stamford, and hundredsof other colleges and universities hide and cover up rape on their campuses. University is a dangerous place for women and it should be one of the safest places for them.
BIBLE SAID WE SHOULD NOT JUDGE,LET LEAVE EVERYTIN 4 GOD.
WE must work to stop this evel by all means.this is not only a human right voilation ,but a sin also
Exposing a mess brings awareness. Nobody thinks about cleaning up filth if they don't know it exists. I am so grateful to all who keep exposing these terrible crimes. Keep doing what you're doing, and let's all do something about this horror.
When will justice be metted out on these evil men,for CHRIST sake?
So now you know why Americans won't do that job. I used to work the fields in San Jose Ca. back in the day. All my friends (almost) and their mothers also worked the fields for a little extra cash when the kids were out of school. A Mexican saying is "old enough to bleed, old enough to breed." Isn't that special? We have approximately 700,000 ag jobs and well over 11,000,000 illegal immigrants supposedly here to work the fields.
It is impossible to fully address the issue of female abuse across America, if it is merely viewed as a problem, that only affect immigrants, or space alien females -primarily of color.
