(CNN) - The head of the opposition Free Syrian Army told CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Thursday he has intelligence showing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government is moving its chemical weapons out of the country.
"Today, we have information that the regime began to move chemical materials and chemical weapons to Lebanon and to Iraq," Gen. Salim Idriss said from inside Syria.
CNN could not independently verify Idriss' claim.
Several senior Israeli officials told CNN's Elise Labott that they have not seen movements into Lebanon or Iraq, and that they did not believe it made sense for the Syrians to be moving weapons so soon.
And Iraq categorically denied that chemical weapons had crossed into its territory, with an adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki speculating "there is a political agency behind this claim."
"We were the victims of chemical weapons under Saddam's regime," said the adviser, Ali al-Moussawi. "And we will never allow to let any country to transfer chemical materials to our lands at all."
Still, if the allegation were true, it could fundamentally shift the assessments of U.S. intelligence officials, CNN's Barbara Starr reports.
Namely, these officials have said that al-Assad would not disperse his stockpile of chemical weapons because he knows the United States would not bomb it, that Syrian security forces firmly control the weapons and that there exists a large, secure infrastructure that has been moving these arms from rebel-held areas.
Moving these weapons into Iraq, Lebanon or some other country outside Syria might prompt U.S. intelligence authorities to question whether they were being transferred by a rogue element or whether it was evidence of a crack in the government's control.
The Syrian opposition is afraid, Idriss told CNN's Amanpour, that al-Assad's forces will then use those weapons sometime in the future - even after the international effort to collect and destroy its chemical weapons arsenal is finished.
"The regime," he said, "is behaving like Saddam Hussein."
Idriss said he talked Thursday about what's happening diplomatically with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who the rebel leader claimed told him "that he will discuss with the Russians how honest the regime is."
"And if our friends discover that the regime is trying to play games and waste time," Idriss said by way of summarizing Kerry's remarks, "the threat of the strikes is still on the table."
Earlier on Thursday, Idriss told NPR that he had not received "any weapons from our American friends," despite reports that lethal aid had indeed started reaching the Syrian opposition.
That includes a U.S. official who told CNN on Wednesday that light and anti-tank weapons as well as ammunition - paid for by the United States albeit made elsewhere - had begun flowing to Syrian rebels over the past two weeks.
Idriss told Amanpour that he "can't talk about weapons," though he did stress that opposition forces were getting help.
"We are getting now a lot of support from our American friends, but I can't talk in detail about all kinds of the support," he said.
For its part, the opposition will support efforts to take control of and eventually dismantle Syria's chemical weapons, with Idriss saying, "We will do our best to help them." But the rebel leader questioned that things will play out as hoped.
"I think the regime will prevent them to go to the locations and to do their job," Idriss said. "I think the regime will tell them, 'Today you can't go out of the hotels because the situation is very dangerous, and tomorrow you can't go,' and they will delay and delay."
And even if Idriss is proven wrong and Syria's chemical weapons are wiped out as part of this process, the rebel leader stressed that bigger issues remain in a civil war that the U.N. estimates has killed more than 100,000 people - most of them by conventional weapons.
"We have many, many problems with the regime," he said. "The chemical weapons (are) not ... the only problem that we have."

You mean just like Saddam did in the last Iraq war, then our country whined it never happened and we found no WMD, now Syria is doing it again...
Well best not attack...since like last time, they were to smart for us...
LOL, I remember thinking shock & awe was being used on the wrong country for just that reason, lol. It's like the shell game isn't it? Let them kill each other in thier civil wars and if they ever mess with us by sending terrorists to our country again then we can step on them like a bug. I'm sick of it all.
Unfortunately, all indications are that our on-ground intelligence s uck s badly. The most powerful satellite camera we have can't see through buildings or trucks.
Attached itself to the wrong post, sorry
or can they....?
So...you're saying you knew about chemical weapons being moved to Syria from Iraq but the US government didn't? Because, let me get this straight, the Iraqis and Syrians (and you, I guess) are too smart for the US government?
Now, it at least seems plausible that the Iraqis might have transferred their chemical weapons to Syria. But if you honestly think that proof of that transfer exists (or existed) and that the US government wasn't aware of it (if it did, in fact, exist) then you are clearly too high to be typing comments and should probably go lie down.
My son was a U.S. Marine in Iraq at the time. He saw trucks moving "something" from Iraq to Syria but was forbidden to stop them or even watch them closely. He said they appeared to be driven by Russian soldiers.
So, while "smarter" isn't neccesarily due to higher intelligence rather than observation and experience, I believe he IS smarter than the U.S. government.
oldfart is an idiot and apparently so is his son. Sunnis and Shias do not get along. Saddam was Sunni and Assad and daddy are Shias. I am certain they did not help each other out
Jeeeeee. They will do everything to draw the US into this war. Then after we do their dirty job then they will turn on us – the infidels. Again let Putin handle it.
apparently you didn't follow the news very closely ,because before the start of the Iraqi invasion ,this very news service reported intelligence saying Iraq was moving what was thought to be chemical weapons to syria
Mike, I'm going to let you in on a little secret that, apparently, everyone but you knows. Your government doesn't always tell you everything that it knows about. I know, it's crazy and seems far-fetched. By the way, in March of 2003, I, too, was sitting in the very sandy country of Kuwait awaiting orders to move northward. We were also briefed about convoys of trucks leaving Iraq into Syria. What was in them? Who knows? Could have been Saddam's collection of bunny slippers. Could have been chemical weapons. Who knows?
I was in the war I know what we found.
But I can not confirm nor denie what it is...
Which pretty much means...
Guess what we found...and never told the public.
I believe and remember seeing those reports from Iraq. Just like before the world realized that chemical launches occurred here in Syria. The news had already shown the rockets being launched by Syrian forces. Did those videos get taken away and classified? I see this same thing occur repeatedly. Things are reported then quickly scrubbed or overcome by other events until they are forgotten. True the average person has forgotten. I know I'm not crazy. I hope not anyway. I just keep seeing it reoccur in this fashion. I do not doubt this report at all. We could never be allowed to validate it because then Iraq was justified.
Obama's big mouth has given them time to move the chemicals. Big surprise
I know, Just bomb the cr@p out of them already right? ....lol Americans....
your right on the money
who elected this guy anyways ? do people deserve the leaders they get? is that true? I don;t know, am only asking !
Well, Syrian rebels continuously trying to provoke US into war and the major confusion is it could be US driven as well. US supplies lots of arms to Syrian rebels. They also supply chemical agents to syrian rebels. So, entire drama is done by US+Rebels to make situation for war. I pity Nobel award winner Obama for being down and dirty. Entire world thought he would different president than previous murderers as US always wants war every 6-8 years. But appears like Obama is no different. Peace award is only given to extremely dignified people that work their entire life towards peace, preach and practice. This guy holding fake award is distinctly visible. God bless USA from such one by one criminal presidents. First objective war and if that does not work, then look for peace. God bless
Warmongers need to find WMD arms a.s.a.p. so bombings starts. War is a powerful jog creator. of course some will die – just a minor collateral effect.
Musical chairs–moved from Iraq to syria and now back to Iraq-what a game!! Hey demos caught on yet???
With all the drones, satellites & air survelliance... I think the US can tell what's up
Yeah like they can figure out what happened in Bengazi?
Terrorists shot an RPG into the Ambassador's car, what more do you want to know? Would more security guards have stood in front of the rocket and saved everyone like Iron Man?
I doubt it.
We all knew Syria would pull a stunt like this. We can expect missiles to fly in a few days or sooner depending on US intelligence reporting on this scenario. Foolish move on the part of Syria.
Could be, could be......if the US was smart about this whole CW plan.
Are you kidding me? Syria transported 2500 hesbolla soldiers to Syria to fight for them, You don't think that they could smuggle out containers to Lebanon and Iraq, Iran has more control over Iraq then Their own government!
@ Bee Lade:
I am skeptical of this report, especially the Iraq link, but your comment about Saddam moving his weapons to Syria is pretty wrong. Let's just have a little regional history lesson, shall we?
you are saying Saddam sent his chemical weapons to Syria, so we wouldn't find them... instead of, say, using them to defend himself? Syria, who's biggest backers are Russian and IRAN. Iran, the country Saddam used chemical weapons against during their war in the 80s. Iraq is also where a lot of the foreign Al Queda fighters are coming from that are alligning with the rebels. So, other than a border and muslim population, what is your rational for Saddam sending his chemical weapons to Syria? It just doesn't make any sense to do that. Lebanon, possibly, but Iraq is probably not.
Actually there is an historical link between Syria and Iraq as relates to Saddam. The Iraqi leaders and the Syrian leaders- at least some of them, and including Saddam, were members of the BAATH Party that has it's roots in Syria, but later spread to other Arab countries, even though the Baath's only managed to gain power in Syria and Iraq.
There was testimony and surveillance video at the time of the Iraq invasion indicating truck convoys made their way to Syria. Now that the USA is essentially out of Iraq, these allies from years past could still easily be working together to hide such weapons ...
Man you are so wrong on all accounts.
Baath is a faction of Shia, Saddam was Sunni. Iran is Shia, Hezbolla is shia Saudi is Sunni. I can go on and on but this is all about Sunni vs Shia. The allies are the ones with the same religions. Most [Palestinians are Sunni, hence Al Qaida whish is sunni keeps attacking us on their behalf.
Please read up prior to posting anymore.
John, you better read up, buddy. Its historical fact Saddam was Baath party.
Saddam sent his entire air force to Iran, so why not the chemical weapons to Syria?
For the simple matter that Saddam was Sunni while Assad and Company are Shia. That's why no chemical weapons went to Syria from Iraq
Certainly.. Just like in the first gulf war Iraq flew and landed their jets (F14s included) into Iran. Enemy of my enemy is my friend in the Muslim world.
besides John... Baath party is a party of arab nationalism. Nothing to do with shiite or Sunni
wow, you have forgotten that Assad & Saddam are secularists. Oh come on!
"Chemical weapons, what chemical weapons? Oh, you mean this crate over here. Sure you can put that under international control."
1. follow where the biological/chemical weapons go
2. report back on 24 hr basis
3. alert space commnd
4. launch stealth
5. mission accomplished
6. end transmission.
@Floyd: Bee Lade and the right have always claimed that Saddam moved his WMDs to Syria to justify the war in Iraq.. although they have never been able to offer any proof even all these years later. They also forget that America gave him the chemical weapons during the Reagan years... They forget the famous picture of Rumsfeld meeting with Saddam which I find ironic now that he even has the audacity to comment on President Obama's handling of the situation. Saddam first used the chemical weapons on the Iranians and we looked the other way because we wanted him to win the war. And then, he used them against his own people and again the Reagan administration looked the other way.... The Iraqis will not allow the Syrians to move weapons in their country... They still remember the thousands that died.
The borders in these areas are largely unsecured, much like our borders. We have absolutely no idea how stuff is moving around between these Arabs- whether state sanctioned or not!
So invade anyways!
I would expect the US to have arial and satalite survalence that would detect such movement since they have to be expecting such an action.
Yeah, because pictures sure made people believe last time.
Not only that, but come on everybody!! Israel has been monitoring their stuff for years and they know where the chemical weapons are. And they will provide the information to America when the time comes. When people say we don't know where the chemical weapons are, I think they are naive. We do know and what we don't know, Israel knows....
A rose, by any other name, is still a rose. And a turd, no matter how well polished, is still a turb. Assad is a rat in a cage and desperately looking for a way out. Putin is his protector and is just looking to prolong what will surely be the inevitable. Each being as complicit as the other in this sham. This whole situation is going to get a whole lot worse the longer we wait. Send in the bombs already, so two million people can finally go home and properly bury the thousands that have already died.
seriously? you know they're broke right?
See? The power dictators in the Middle East have *always* had "chemical weapons" – since the manufacturing nations supplied them or helped set up production in that region. Iraq had them – and with U.S. Congressional help, stalled UN inspectors long enough to move / hide them, Iran has them, Syria has them ... Perhaps Hezbollah in Lebanon too ...
The inteligence reports in the Bush Administration may not have been perfect but they were accurate enough until Congress stalled action until their Israel-hating members could help their Middle Eastern sympathizers make them "never happen".
What a SUPER mess Obama has made of this!!! Vladimir Putin is making him look like the incompetent dunce he really is.
It is INSANE for the US to get involved in this multi-faction "he said, he said" situation, end of discussion.
This is what happens when you wait too long to do anything, we are going to end up looking for
WMD's again and they are back in Iraq!
Remember back when imaginary WMD was enough justification to Republicans to throw a million soldiers into harm's way, to spend a trillion dollars and flush our credibility down the drain in the world?
Now, the real thing is on the scene – real WMD – and what is their response? Let's oppose whatever Obama wants to do.
In case you had forgotten what these hypocritical people were made of, there you go.
You're quite backwards, Mark. Quite backwards.
Ditto Mark, history has a bad habit of repeating itself.
According to George Sada, a TOP Sadamm Russein General, the WMD of Iraq were sent to Syria.
I pray we never get to see the chemical weapons being developed by Iraq – the phenomenal killing power of one nerve agent, plus the airborne killing power of another nerve agent, practically instantaneous infection rates being developed by Rihab Rashid Taha al-Azawi (born 1957) – a Iraqi microbiologist dubbed Dr. Germ.
Here is the question I want an answer to from every single American who is not just against attacking Assad's chemical Weapons but taking that criminal dictatorship out of office completely and or making them all dead...?...
What Hole are all you cowards going to crawl into when it comes to light that Iran has already developed a Nuclear Bomb ????????????
How much more room is there left right now for Americans to be even bigger cowards than they are now?
How much more Weak and backsliding and back boneless can your President actually be than he already is right now?
How naive is America exactly to even consider buying into this complete and Obvious BS coming out of Russia and Syria?
How more lost can America Become ?
How quickly you have all forgotten the Dead of 911, which you can bet all of what you have left of your life savings on that they had a hand in it from the get go !!!
Syrians have done 2 things, all of them since the beginning of time...,
Hate Americans and Hate Jews !!!
When exactly if ever are you going to wake up ?
When Your Kids are attacked and gassed by chemical Weapons...?...
When Iran launches a Nuclear Warhead at Hawaii ?
Up here in Canada...we don't wimp out like all of you seem to so this is all 100% inexplicable given the history of what this dictatorship has done to it's citizens, which as mentioned hate Jews for the sake of Hatred itself as well as Americans...but this just shows the completely Objective way even the jews of Israel are looking at this right now !!!
You call Israel your greatest ally and then do so9mething as perverse and ugly and oh so very wrong as getting into bed with these criminal thugs and bowing to their beat downs like little whimpy lost souls with no will left in them at all to even stand up for what is decent and right in this world...
There is just no denying it anymore...
America is Lost !!!
Almost to a person, you have no clue not only what you are talking about, but what this conflict is about and what it represents and if there is ever going to be any world peace possible at all !!!
Sorry guy but you are the one that sounds like a coward. You are ready to risk WW III and the countless lives of our fellow citizen for your own personal safety. MAN UP !
now is the time to dance in the square of new york
I guess the Heisenberg principle now means "armchair quarterback".
I don't see Canada taking any kind of lead or even trying to Man Up.
Al-Qaeda supports the rebels, not Assad. The rebels are getting ideological, financial, military help from Al-Qaeda. The rebels are indebted to Al-Qaeda. Many of the rebels are in fact Al-Qaeda members. That makes Assad the one fighting terrorism.
This is what Asaad want you to believe. The percentage in the Rebels and Free Syrian Army who are extremists is less than 10%; most of the Syrian oppositions are moderate and seculars. Some are even Christians. Elizabeth O'Bagy wrote: On the Front Lines of Syria's Civil War “The conventional wisdom—that jihadists are running the rebellion—is not what I've witnessed on the ground.”
The threat from Iran and Syria is EXAGGERATED. John Kerry became a laughing stock when he compared Assad to Hitler.
Heisenberg, all de comment made by you tells where you sit and how limited you have become in all aspect.
the first answer to you is that the world is not for US. the right you have to develop anything is the same right Iran have got, the right that israel have to possess any weapong to WMD and chemical weapon is the same right Iran have got.
i dont blame you, i blame the foolish Arabs who cannot think to know who their enemy is. we all know that all these war is only to protect Israel. You cannot fools us all the time. tell me, where is the evidence that Osama blasted the WTC? tell me, why is it that on the day of the attack the jews in the WTC never went to work?
Can plan crash bring down a tower completely as we saw in the 9/11?
Where is the WMD in Irag? all untrue ha to achieve a purpose9 (make israel safe right?)
What i can tell you is that nothing is perminent under the sun.
if you think US is superpower today to defend any criminality (Israel) in the world today, dont think it will last forever. you and I may not witness it but our children and grand children will surely pay for all these.
What is the US saying about protest in Bahrain and Turkey? silence ha? because they are allieds. Hmmm
ok so i lied, it's more than just one question !!!
also, watching you guys on TV clutching and fighting and grabbing and clawing and yelling and whoring yourselves almost to a person, yup, even your blind persons, so that they, You & your 5 year kids can hold on to their Machine Guns !!!
whats wrong with that picture do ya think ???
good Luck, your gonna need it now !!!
Reblogged this on AConservativeEdge.
Gert ready folks for another 9-11. We are arming the rebels in Syria consisting of every terrorists group in the Middle East..What the hell is our Government thinking giving guns to the enemy. When they are done in Syria does our Government really think the terrorists are gonna just give the weapons back. Yeah bullets first Mr President and I hope you are out front in order to receive the very first one....Remember this folks come election time and vote every damn person in the government out of office and start all over with those who actually serve the people who put them there.. Time for a new batch of crooks.
If there is Al Qaeda in Syria; they are the made by Asaad and Iran. Iran, which is the strongest Asaad ally, is hosting thousands of Al Qaeda members who fled from Afghanistan. Asaad regime, have been smuggling Al Qaeda members to Iraq to kill American soldiers for years. The Free Syrian Army and most of the rebels are moderate, seculars, how many times did you see Al Qaeda memebr smoking? Google: Elizabeth O'Bagy: On the Front Lines of Syria's Civil War. "The conventional wisdom—that jihadists are running the rebellion—is not what I've witnessed on the ground.."
Put all the ones in government offices out there and let them go to war & fight for us . The ones that usually get the world in this situtation . See what kind of change of heart be then . The call to whoever about the 911 attack was not submitted to the right people in charge . What happens (Down Goes The Tower ) . Person fired for not submitting the info.
I am deeply saddened by the stories you choose to associate yourself with these days. That would make no sense logically for Syria to do any such thing. dictatorial betrayal must be very lucrative..
Who do you believe? Nobody. The rebels are probaly just doing what everybody here does and that is to make up what the think and present it as facts.
Both sides of this confrontation are lying and deceiving as suits them. However it would not be much of a stretch at all if some of the WMD weapons are moved to different locations around Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. And who is to say that chemical weapons are all that is being moved.
This is smelling of propaganda.
Back to iraq. that's where they originated.
This is almost funny.
Of course Syria will freely give up all chemical weapons, just like Iraq did. The really amusing part is the role reversal. Before Saddam trucked his weapons to Syria & now 10 years later Assad is doing the exact same thing in reverse & you wonder why the US has become the laughingstock of the Middle East~! And the third little piggie said – if you don’t give up your chemical weapons, you won’t be admitted to the UN. Oh god damn, gosh, darn it~! LMFAO
Actually, Syria is already a member of the United Nations.
Syria claims to be willing to join the Chemical Weapons treaty which the great majority of nations have already done.
But I don't trust Assad to cooperate with ANYONE in this matter.
I fully expect a larger conflict on the horizon.
Is he suggesting that we attack Iraq while we are already attacking Iraq because of the WMDs. LMAO. This fella is pure desperate. Now he has become Kerry's spokesman – "all options on table". Traitor. He should be tried for treason.
The U.S. is no longer "attacking Iraq". In fact, we have removed all combat troops from Iraq. The ONLY ones "attacking Iraq" today are members of Al Qaida.
Without having a full blown military intervention, it will be hard to round up all of those weapons, that is the sober truth of the matter. If the UN monitors the situation so they are not used in this war, that is the best that can be done imo, and secure what is there in Syria, which may not be much by the time diplomacy takes its course.
So, tell us, what happens when Assad orders the use of Chemical weapons even while the U.N. is "monitoring" the situation? Do the inspectors just go to his office and "shame him"?
"Shame on you, Assad!!!"
Assad is SHAMELESS. PERIOD.
If Al Qaeda rebel intelligence says it it must be true.
First off I must say I am a u.s. soldier currently deployed to Afghanistan...secondly I know this is a touchy topic for those on the extreme right and left...I claim to be more in the middle where the rational people stand on the matter...if our president was Mitt Romney those extreme right wingers would back a strike...but since he's not president its just the opposite...I tired of this "civil war of political affiliation" in our country! Our decisions as a nation should be ones of our national security, our allies interests, and also crimes against humanity( UN & NATO policy included)! If bombing your own people with chemical weapons aren't crimes against humanity someone please tell me what it is! Please! What if our president ordered such a strike on our people? Would you not classify that as a crime? All I'm asking is for people to be logical! Quit picking sides and always going with what those people say just because you don't want to think for yourself! I have been to Iraq and I'm currently in Afghanistan...I don't want another war...believe me! But if we can stop the Syrian government from brutally killing innocent people ( like children...come on!!!) It is not only in our allies and our own best interests...but human interest! No one deserves to die in that manner! If we don't stop it now...who to say in the future they or someone else won't do it again?! What would we say then...it was OK then because we didn't want a war?!
I am 27 years as a soldier, I doubt you have the wealth of experience ? the FSA did the chemical attack, 100 pages of REAL checkable verifiable evidence by Russia proves the FSA are the jihadi terrorist nutters who used chemical weapons!
We should stay out of this and stop supporting the 'rebels'=TERRORISTS!
Have you seen the Alawite and Christian children kidnapped from Laktikkia and killed, those videos were all made prior to the attacks, surviving family members have ID their children in the terrorists videos! You need to do some factual research and stop falling for the MSM narrative, the FSA have killed 47.000 SAA+NDF soldiers, not to mention all the cut throats and beheadings they have carried out, and you now want us NATO to become the AIR WING of the Terrorist AQ?
@U.S. soldier deployed, If you are a true soldier, how many people did you kill in Iraq, how many innocent poeple did you blast in afganistan, stop being hypocrate. is that killing not a crime against humanity? you shall surely pay for this believe me. What at all shows that Asad commited this crime, why not the REBELS? just listen to the name REBELS.
I am still amazed to see a country that call it self a democratic and yet support REBELS to fight a legitimate government. Is madness, it doesnt make sense and tells how evil the US has become. God have mercy.
Good evening.番組は いつも みています.Syria:良い方向に 向かうように 祈り 見守ります. Have a nice day all.rie matsumoto.
Ths FSA jihadi terrorists used the chemical weapons, Idris was paid millions by Qatar to defect and become a traitor!
STOP SUPPORTING TERRORISTS
The terrorists are Asaad regime thugs with Hezbollah terrorist and Iranian Ayatollahs. What about the 150,000 Civilian Syrian that have been mascaraed by Chemical Asaad? What about the tens of thousand of women raped? What about the thousands of children tortured to death? What about 1,500 women and men killed using WMD in 10 minutes? You are an Asaad troll trying to make American public believe that the rebels are Al Qaeda which is not true; there is 10% of extremists with the rebels; however, 90% are from Civilian Syrians who are defining their families, homes and selves. Elizabeth O'Bagy said: On the Front Lines of Syria's Civil War
“The conventional wisdom—that jihadists are running the rebellion—is not what I've witnessed on the ground.”
Iraq nowadays is a colony of Iran and Lebanon is a colony of Hezbollah/ Iran; this is very much expected. Asaad regime will not abandon Chemical WMD voluntarily; this criminal is part of Iranian/ Hezbollah/ Asaad/ Russia plot in the region to counter West, US, Israel, Turkey and moderate Arab States in the region.
The leaders of the Syrian opposition ,you receive ,and interview ,have no control over the fanatic Alqaeda linked rebels who are the majority of militant .they are worse than the dictator Bashar.obama administration misread the political map after the Arab spring and pushed the fanatic Moslem Brothers in Egypt,Tunisia,Libya and Yemen.the Egyptians revolted .By arming the fanatic Syrian rebels and attacking Syrian to save Obama red line, you are delivering Syria to Alqaeda .the Russian proposal is a perfect wise escape for Obama and paves the way for political solution .as Carter went down as the president who delivered Iran to theocratic regime.odama will go down in history as the one who was about to deliver the Arab world to fanatics.by the help of God and the people,it will not happen.we respect and like the Americans values which the fanatics fight against.to protect the US and the world security ,you should not Side with terrorists.
Those People saying use of chemical weapons in war should not be punished, i say imagine the Syrian regime or any other madman posing as a Leader giving them to infidels/kaffirs like al-qaeda or taliban then you will regret especially if its nearer at home. Some People have lost their sound minds because of spilling innocent blood. For example al-qaeda and taliban are killing more muslims than any other People, but they claim to be fighting the West. Worse still they can kill anyone when they are burning with hatred, anxiety, fear, distress in their wretched souls very far from Allah and they say 'God is great'. Real loving, truthfull and faithfull Christians should pray for this Godless serpents so they may feel the love and lengendry grace of our Creator, the Lord of hosts whose love for all nations is manifest.
These rebels are spreading false roumours and trying to bring the whole world into a war. Their only goal is to bring down assad and they dont want to negotiate anything. These people can go to any heights to attain their goal. Its time governments took note of it. These guys are acting like mad men trying to bring super power into fight with each toher. Its time we take control of these rebels.
Of course, they would move them. The Chemicals were never all theirs. A good portion was moved to Syria by Sadam Hussein, remember? Its a relay game.
Assad is only defending his country and no one has proved he actually used chemical weapon. Yes, chemical weapon was used but everyone has access to the chemical weapons. Syrian rebels may have captured some and used it. That is just as possible as Assad using it. So be just in your pronounsements or this planet would be cursed worse than it already had.
If Syria has transferred part of the chems to Lebanon or other neighboring countries, little can be done about it. What`s important are the actual inventories left in its territory, and to move on with the logistics to make them accountable . This will be a difficult to the extreme task in the middle of a battlefield. This is why Russia and the U.S. should set the plan to work this inventory while Salim Idriss allows a cease-fire period to make this inspections work scenario possible, instead of snitching about what is Syria doing with these assets. The U. S. should make a combined request to these rebel forces to cooperate with this matter. Its also in their best interest that these weapons are removed. Or are they also what they would like to get their hands on ??????
U.S. is the perfect example of hypocrisy. First with the bombing thousand tons of napalm in Vietnam nobody forgot, and then allowing Israel to burn to death dozen thousand civilians, women and children in Gaza. Again, Mistress Amanpour, nobody forgot. You’re the only one...
This here Gen. Salim Idriss is a real Sadam Hussein look alike, and talk alike. Did you see his mustache? I would hate for US to help put this guy in power in Syria. He looks dangerous. In a few years, you will need boots on the ground to remove this Syrian traitor.
More bovine excrement.Iraq is in the hands of USA.Stop giving us horse dung.
christain amanpour, we have to use chemical weapen any where in the world , you and me live from selling those weapen in the world the war should be in the world always we live from that blood , you enjoy or live from their blood, you got all your position from reporting from middle east countries. they should die we should enjoy, there is no human been in the world.
More absolutely execrable journalism from Christiane Amanpour, a woman who clearly wants to promote war despite the desire of the American people to avert war, despite the fact that Anti-Assad militants themselves tell us they are moving chemical weapons provided by Saudi Prince Bandar–who tried to bribe Russia with a 15 billion dollar deal to stop defending international law, despite the U.S. having a long, clear track record of war crimes and illegal invasions on the pretexts of false WMD claims, despite the U.S.'s own support for chemical weapon use by Saddam Hussein who gassed the Kurds and Iranians and was rewarded by the U.S. with increased weapons sales, despite the U.S.'s support for Israel using banned white phosphorus weapons in Palestinian residential areas, despite the flagrant illegality of attacking another country when they have not attacked you or threatened you, despite the massive, unimaginable human tragedy that would follow Syria collapsing into a bunch of warlord and jihadi controlled cantons. This woman has neither morality nor common sense and should not only be fired, but publicly shamed. You are an embarrassment to Western standards of critical thought, lawfulness and morality and to your profession. Someone please fire this incompetent monster.
Very good post indeed.
Interesting. I see there are a few posters here promulgating a lie. These posters are most likely working for the US government, and are named oldfart, Dan L, and Its True.
The lie they are attempting to spread is that the WMD in Syria are the same as the ones in Iraq. One problem with this lie: chemical weapons have shelf lives. Most can't be stored for extended periods. Another problem with this lie: Why would Saddam Hussein give WMD to Syria, a close ally of his arch-enemy, Iran?
I've seen this lie in more and more places lately, so it's pretty clear that the US government is spreading disinformation. Sorry chaps, won't let you get away with it.
Ground breaking journalism CNN, all you need is another Kuwaiti babies being killed by Iraqi soldiers stilling their incubators moment and you will have the war you so desperately want and need.
Amanpour has a knee-jerk reaction to support whatever pap her terrorist pals feed her.
PLEASE don't forget that at one time, we here in the Continental U.S were also "terrorists" to the British Government.
After all, they WERE the lawful rulers of the Colonies.
The application of the word "terrorist" to those who are rebelling against their Governments is irrational.
Instead, use the word "Rebels", won't you?
BTW, your post is much more a "knee-jerk" reaction to Ms. Amanpour's comments.
Go here to vote against sending weapons and other equipment to syria http://act.rootsaction.org/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=8572
I want to understand why the chemicals are being moved? and why Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is not being charged with war crimes?
The problem with you, Amanpour is that you took already side. With the rebels, in fact pseudo rebels who want to destroy the secular Syria to implant the sharia law and, according with the jihadists the Caliphate. Poor you! Your Iranians’s backgrounds?, likely, your visceral reaction against Shi’ites?. Very likely. This made you a bad journalist.
