India PM boycotts Commonwealth summit

By Susannah Cullinane, CNN

(CNN) - Sri Lanka's high commissioner to Britain has blamed criticism of his country's human rights record on a "proxy propaganda war" being carried out by those who funded the nation's "terrorist conflict."

The prime ministers of Canada, Mauritius and India have withdrawn from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, or CHOGM, beginning in Colombo on Friday, amid concerns about the rights situation in Sri Lanka after its 26-year civil war with separatist Tamil rebels.

Speaking to CNN's Fred Pleitgen for the "Amanpour" show on the eve of the summit, Chris Nonis said he was unsurprised by the criticism.

"One has to understand that there's a tremendous influence from those who funded the terrorist conflict who are now carrying out, really, a proxy propaganda war.

The last chapter of the grim battle to crush the LTTE was written in black ink. That owed a lot to the nature of the beast. Perhaps the Sri Lankan government could have been more magnanimous in victory. Recent provincial elections in the northern province are a hopeful sign. Little will be gained, however, by pushing the government into a corner, beyond creating more space for the Chinese.

CNN – if want to be impartial :-
Enough Evidence in last few days ? Why Not you say LTTE Fired Artillery & 0.50Mm at the fleeing civilians no SL Army? all videos are there. Why not say LTTE used innocent civilians as a cover ? why not say using children to war ?

Why Not talk about destruction caused by LTTE during last 4 decades ?
Jaffna mothers come & cry in front of visiting foreign journalists – their children are missing ? why you can not understand that they were dragged by LTTE to fight against SL Troops and as a result got killed. LTTE buried them or destroyed the bodies – images of same bodies were picked up by Channel 4 to show that they are innocent civilians.
What is the definition of TERRORIST ?
Pottu Amman may be in Europe – LTTE 's Eastern Military Commander Elilan may be in Europe but he is in missing in action list. Elilan's wife is unharmed and a northern provincial council member.
People cry for their lands in Jaffna ? why did they sold them to LTTE and came to Colombo ?
Also some jokers who are in Colombo from the day of his/her birth now say that their Grand Father's grave was there in some block of land and they claim it is their own land.
There is NO ETHNIC PROBLEM in Sri Lanka as you all say.
UK Prime Minister has promised the Tamil team he met that he will talk bad about Sri Lanka in his visit. Most of All LTTE is strongly operating in UK and he needs to secure all Tamil votes. Same with Canada. LTTE controls the entire distribution of String Hoppers (food) in Canada.
India : – they worry about internal anti government riots and coming elections.

Note : LTTE is not a Tamil Organization. It is the business arm of many Arms+Drugs dealers. May be head of governments of ministers are also involved.
If LTTE and their support group Tamil Diaspora is representing Tamils – why did they Killed lot of Tamils here ?
Wake up – this is a business.

If your government can kill Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan and hunting down each and every one in that group ,
Why question our troops kill Prabhakaran and crushing LTTE ? Jealous ???

though i am not a Sri Lankan i know what the ground situation is cause i have been living in Sri Lanka, LTTTE is still strong in UK, CAN and IND and they have drugs mafia on so they are capable of buying powerful people like international leaders and TV stations like Channel 4, reliable information says that LTTEE has killed its own TAMIL citizens in order to make some fake videos about false war crimes that are telecast through Channel 4 and BBC , Tamilnadu Politicians like Vaiko and Jayalalitha obviously under LTTEE Terrorisits' Payrole..

A great talk by Dr Nonis. Yes. all these journalists and super heroes were silent when terrorists violated the basic human right of living of 20 million innocent people. At that time we go out to work every morning wondering whether we can make it home to see our childen in the evening. That is the way the Sri Lankan people lead their lives during that 30 years. Terrorist killed not only innocent people, leaders of Sri lanka like Mr. Lalith Athulathmudali, Mr. Gamini Dissanayake, President Premadasa, Mr. Lakshman Kadiragamar and many more and a Indian Prime Minister. The majority of Sinhalese never had any grudge over the Tamil people. Both ethnic groups lived harmoniusly in Colombo and in other subburbs where majority is Sinhalese for more than thousand years, through out the war and up to now.Everybody should understand the fact that Majority Sinhalese naver created this issue. We just reacted to the situation and Eliminated terrorism. It is a great acvievment by the forces of Sri lanka with the bold decisions taken by the leaders of the country. This is a time the whole world is devastated by terrorism and human right violations.Innocent people are dying and displacing every where every day and the world super heroes should stop their supprt to the terrorism which come up to them in different faces. Now it is the time that world leaders open their eyes and do away with their petty agendas and help to eliminate war in every country and rebuild Nations. Save the Human kind.

David Cameron kept his word that he openly gave the LTTE Tamil Diaspora in the UK to tarnish Sri Lanka's name that he precisely did in last few days Now British Priminister can be happy he secured his huge Tamil Vote Base in the UK though i am not a Sri Lankan i know what the ground situation is cause i have been living in Sri Lanka, LTTTE Terrorists are still strong in UK, CAN and IND somewhat in Sri Lanka and they are capable of buying powerful international leaders and TV stations like Channel 4, reliable information says that LTTEE has killed its own TAMIL citizens in order to make some fake videos about false war crimes that are telecast through Channel 4 and BBC.

The terrorist initiated war in Sri Lanka affected all Sri Lankans, including the Tamil community of SL. Few Western journalists or politicians appear to be aware of, or interested in, highlighting the slaughter of Tamil people by the Tamil terrorists. The reality is that the end of war in SL is of far greater benefit to millions of Sri Lankans, than having an ongoing, prolonged conflict with farcical negotiations with terrorists who were unwilling to compromise. The reality also is, had the war continued, thousands of civilians were likely to have been killed by the LTTE and the military forces. I very much doubt the current propaganda that 40,000 people were executed by the SL military. Where are the bodies, if that is the case? Why didn't US spy satellites spot this occurring – they can read the number plates of vehicles, surely 40,000 bodies would be hard to hide?

I need few answers from CNN. US droner attacks in Pakistan killed hundreds of innocent civilians in addition to Taliban fighters. Is this not a gross human right violation and interference of internal affairs of a sovereign country?
Is it the socalled freedom of expression in the "FREE WORLD" to collect personnel information of human beings in the world including US sitizens and particularly listening to private telephone conversations of world leaders

People should not support any kind of terrorist group. Why Indian people support LTTE? They are the one who killed the Indian Prime minister Rajiv Ghandhi and lots of other innocent tamil children (by giving them guns to their hands) Pathetic...

Dr. Nonis must first understand that the diaspora is the largest such a Group in the world and are growing politically,
economically and morally stronger with every counter-move by Mahinda Regime & cabal. It will be wise in the 21st
century to take recognition of a long-standing democratic need of a community, with magnanimity after May 2009.

Doesnt one expect the diaspora to assist its own community in Sri Lanka? Is it not for this reason the dual-citizenship
applications have been put on hold in an ad-hoc manner since Jany.2011 following the Oxford debacle?
