Full coverage of Amanpour's interview with President Maduro.
English translation was provided by the President’s office. The transcript of Amanpour's full interview with President Maduro is available here.
All democracies not like europe and unites states are not democracies, but when georges bush went to attack Irak and afganistan there were not referendum and when they discover he (bush) was liying about weapons of mass distructions none of those who authorizes bush recriminated him or even worse send him to jail cause crimes of humanity..maduro was elect democracy and now like you are doing in Ukraine supporting cuts and rebels you try to do in venezuela..why we don,t wait till next elections ?? and see if the people now support capriles or the other guy ?
UNFORTUNATLY LAST ELECTIONS IN VZLA WASN'T THAT CLEAR ENOUGH, THAT WAS PROVED BY VIDEOS SHOWING HOW MADUROS'S GANGS WERE BURNING THE POLL BOXES WITH THE REAL RESULTS. CAPRILES WAN THE ELECTIONS BUT MADURO USED ALL KIND OF DICTATOR TRICKS SUCH AS MOTORCYCLE GANGS SHOOTING ALL OVER CREATING TERRORISM IN THE VOTERS CENTER IN THE COUNTRY. ALSO MADURO CONTINUE THE PREVIOUS DEAD PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ LEGACY.
Maduro is such prevaricator, fibber!
Thank you! In a sentence of 5 words I learned two new ones.
Ms. Amanpour, I highly respect your work, I'm truly believe your impartiality, even if some times sides are taken as they most been. But I most say, I'm very disappointed with President Maduro's interview. I'm from the "Opposition" so called right, which is a mistake as many as myself are from the left. This conflict and separation in Venezuela is not right – left as they portrait it. Concerning the interview, I found it quite disturbing as President Maduro was cut in the editing room half speech various times in the middle of his ideas. I work in audiovisual and I understand this need, but for further times when doing such an important interview that could change the vision of many, take care of this with an editor that speaks Spanish or is able to find coherent moments, as this could see as if CNN is cutting-manipulating the speech. Concerning the content, well, as I said before I really respect your work, but this interview is shallow, little instructive and banal for the situation in Venezuela. As showed, the interview was done for a USA public, so I understand that 30% or more of the interview talks about the Vzla- Usa relations and more, but how come the real questions : media, needs/food/medicine shortage, inflation, Panama – Vzla, 24K dead last year only on delinquency, corruption were just pass ... as appetizers?
Indeed, the interview was pathetic. Mainly, because of Maduro's deviation of questions. It is quite sad that they didn't actually show what's going on. However, I suppose they were not allowed to. As for the translation, yes, it was really bad. But it's important to say, it was selected by Venezuela's govt.
Maduro does not have a true response to anything other than communism being the only alternative that Venezuela can take. He also tends to forget that the election that he claims he won narrowly was disputed due to huge irregularities that gave him a slight edge; but he ignored the protests just like he is doing now. Most of the employees that work for the state run oil company are required to attend government rallies and vote for the PSUV candidate or risk losing their jobs which again sways votes. Over the air TV broadcasts only government run propaganda and therefore gives the poor (which can't afford cable) no other media outlet to see what is really going on. Venezuela went from producing 80% of what they consumed down to only 10 to 20% which is why there is always a shortage of everything. Crime is through the roof which makes Baghdad a safer place than Caracas, yet he thinks only a small percentage of the people see this? The majority of the people know that the government is a total failure and want a change, but when you have people that don't care what happens as long as their retain their power, it is really hard to make a change. If you support the PSUV the letter of the law does not apply to you.
True American are sassy American, They don't care whats right and whats wrong, There is better democracy in Venezuela than US imported democracy in Iraq or Afghanistan. I am not expecting Amanpour to tell the truth because she is True American so can any UnAmerican tell why US Invaded Muslim Countries and killed thousands of innocent civilians including women and kids? (I am talking about civilians not Muslim Mujhadin) I challenge a True American could be true to America but not to rest of the world. NEVER NEVER NEVER.
Brava, Ms. Amanpour! I'm a leftist Venezuelan physician, a great fan of yours and once again, I witnessed in this interview, why you are such a successful and credible professional. With your warm, no-nonsense style and ethical way of hosting your show make you an examplary journalist. An example for the biased "journalists" at CNN en espanol. A pity you never interviewed Hugo Chavez.
Congratulations Dra.
Cheers for Amanpour¡¡¡ brave Woman¡¡¡
A message for the critics, give the dialogue a chance¡¡¡ your hate have you blind,at least the dialogue has began¡¡¡
I could think of a million reasons why the Interview with the Dictator of Venezuela did not meet my expectations, as I am sure many of the posts you received will express. Nevertheless, I will let this video link do the talking, hoping that you will find in it a way to help Venezuela:
Ms, Amanpour thank you for giving us a more clear vision as to what is happening im Venezuela. Clearly a coumumism on the hands of Mr, Maduro and the Castro brothers. As an extremly polarized country as it is, I think it will be extremly valuable to have another interview with the other side of the coin. Some relevant political person from the opposition like Diego Arria, and contrast both visions, so we can reach a better understanding and better conclusions. You owe this to your viewers and to the people of Venezuela. Once again thank you. Great interview, as always.
Mrs Amanpour the Interview with the Dictator of Venezuela did not meet my expectations, was weak, you never confront the answers, dont ask about the Cuba influence, about the deaths, lack of food, lack of econonical and law safety....this interview looks like a Miss Universe show. The CNNE peolple like Fernando del Rincon, Patricia Janiot and Venezuelan people who died everyday deserves more respect from you.
Interview the families of the dead people in the last 20 days, better the last 16 years… Then we can call it a fair coverage.
CNN was expelled from Venezuela, then readmitted for an interview with its president. Amanpour was very diplomatic, set out the facts, not as strong, only showed the disparity in economic growth with a wad of cash indicating the high inflation of the country. Maduro did not responded direct questions. Indicates a division between Venezuelans, imagining exterior enemies, when in fact the disconnection government to its citizens, who complaining through protests, due to closed democratic road. There are exposed to crime, shortage of medicine, no food, no freedom of expression, no happy future if goverment does not change economical politic.
I think that the Brazilian government should take position in this crisis, as the South America's leader.
Mrs Amanpour, the interview got a really poor outcome and hat green olive dress code was really nasty by the way.
I wonder if I've saw a sketch taken from a sort of Tarantino movie: the journalist and the dictator of la republica bananera bolivariana.
Just to get things clear, I am venezuelan born, and I pray for freedom in this country. Hopefully Cristian's interview should be the dawn of another dictator turning down.
Milosevic's deja vù
Dictator of Venezuela Mr Maduro says to Mrs Amanpure in a CNN interview that "he sleeps well" while dozens of thousands of Venezuelans are murdered each year, while hundreds of students are currently been tortured only for legitimately protesting that since this gov't came in to power, 15+ yrs. ago, crime rates has risen dramatically.
Excelente entrevista Sra. AMANPOUR.
lame bota de Fidel
I expected much more from the interview. Maybe all the questions were censored. Wanted to hear more about the non existant independence of power. The judiciary branch, the CNE,all gov`t officials are just puppets of the regime. Cuban interference? He attacks imperialism and the US,what about cuban miliitary presence? Why in 15 years of Chavismo, all the blame of inflation, food shortage, crime is blamed on the opposition, private companies(fedecamaras),Alvaro Uribe,Colombian paramilitary. This makes iis completely nonsense. What about all the so callled popular socialist boliburgueses who spend thousands and millions of dollars in the US,while the venezuelans live in a desperate economic situation. Government corruption needed to be delt in this interview. i understand the limitations of time ,type of questions etc, but I had in mind my own list of questions which were not asked. The way you looked at him ,trying to make sense of his answers ,maybe answers the feeling of impotence. How can a president say he sleeps like a baby with all the turmoil going on. Loved your "Really " answer. Well can´t expect any better of such a shady character who is just a very bad imitator of Chavez. At least the gov´t accepted an interview. Maybe there will be a 2nd part, but I hope it will be when he`s no longer in power and in jail for all the atrocities he is doing with the venezuelan people.
This really is a shallow interview. You would expect more from Christiane Amanpour
Ciudadanos! It takes two to tango. One thing is certain. Americans and Venezuelans would benefit from more coverage rather than less of Venezuelan and more generally Latin American affairs. There is precious little of it and you may be surprised to know, regrettably, that Ms Amanpour's most excellent program is not even broadcast on the US domestic CNN cable channel but only on CNN International.
She was very respectful, but her look showed it all, she knows, he is a very sick man.
Reblogged this on Vad händer i Venezuela?.
What about lack of medicine? I no longer can get Haldol for my son, who needs this every day!
