Memories of Maidan

May 22nd, 2014
02:17 PM ET

Ahead of crucial elections that will determine not just Ukraine’s future, but the stability of the whole region, it's important to look back and remember exactly how all this started.

It began back in December, when then-President Viktor Yunukovych backed out of a partnership deal with the EU after pressure from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Producer Andrew Tkach and independent Ukrainian filmmakers “Babylon 13" have made a new short film, Memories of Maidan – a ground-level view on the front lines of Kiev’s Independence Square.

The voices of ordinary Ukrainian protesters relive their gripping memories of Maidan – the tsunami that brought Ukraine and Russia to the brink of war, saw Crimea annexed, and precipitated the deepest chill between Moscow and the West since the Cold War.

Geese, what a beautiful story for housewives who know nothing about Ukraine mess.

Snipers on Maidan were hired by Andriy Parubiy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andriy_Parubiy), one of the neo-Nazis Maidan leaders. He decided to spill some blood, because for 3 months nothing was happening, the protests began to calm down, and CIA money for feeding 40,000 army of protesters was ending. He called some trained guys from the Right Sector, gave them weapons, and they killed dozens of policemen and protesters at one day. For some reason CNN doesnt like to talk about that, especially about the victims from Berkut squad. Tons of evidences, videos of those snipers, of Andriy carrying out a sniper rifle from the building where snipers were, nobody cares.

After the coup, Andriy Parubiy became the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

The same tactic was used by USA and Venezuelans neo-nazis when they tried to depose democratically elected and latin-american hero Hugo Chávez in 2002. CIA tactics are old and well known... only CNN and others news corporations under command of US government omits the truth.

I am Russian, and I am not a big fan of what is goin on in my country... However in case of Ukraine I totally support Putin. This movie is a classic case of hypocrisy and propaganda. The more I watch bbc, cnn and other western news media the more I am sure that democracy died with Ancient Greece.

Not one word of what you said refutes the evidence that is clearly there on the video.

Russian propaganda has been lying non-stop about these events ever since they happened.

Dude, there on the video is clearly an evidence of CNN propaganda. Nothing about American money and CIA instructors, about Nazis and drugs on Maidan, about dozens of policemen murdered on their duty, about the atrocities of the Right Sector, about all those people on Maidan feel betrayed right now, because they only wanted to change something, and now all the same oligarchs came to power and things got much worse than ever before. No, we can see only some cute girls and brave Ukranians fighting for their freedom, and evil robots beating them. And of course it's russians to blame for all of this.
