Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko: The world must choose sides

July 21st, 2014
03:10 PM ET

In the wake of the attack on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, "every country, including Russia," must determine whether it is "together with the terrorists or together with the civilized world," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Monday.

In an exclusive interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Poroshenko said, "Every country and every person, and every leader should find out their own place."

"We know exactly" where a missile was shot that hit the plane Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard, and where the flight crashed, he said. "And all this territory is firmly controlled by Russian-supported terrorists."

The problem is that with the help of the western press, and probably the weakest group of leaders in a decade, Putin is winning, and will continue to do so. Tomorrow will see another round of weak and inadequate sanctions from Europe, which Russia will breathe a sigh of relief about, laugh (maybe in private this time, Putin laughed in public about the Korean jet) and then they will carry on, they have continued delivering arms, terrorists, and shelling with artillery and rockets over the border the whole time whilst talking peace, which is purely part of the game, since they know the west is stupid enough to listen and use it as a fine excuse for doing very little, perhaps just enough to settle the home crowd! Well eventually world, there will be a major war, by which time these people will be physchotic enough to press the button on total destruction! So, if you want your children never mind grandchildren to have a world to live in, it is time to stand up to your weak politicians, Merkel, Hollande, Cameroon, and Obama, and make them do something, other than worry about losing a few dollars or a cold winter, otherwise permanent winter is on the way, from a man with no soul, and you have only yourselves to blame!

I agree with you completely. Our politicians are weak. Also in many countries the people are blind, or don't care because they are alright, or too busy being distracted with trivialities like shopping and social media. Yesterday I visited a Nazi concentration camp. The commemorative plaque said something like "Let this never happen again". It appears humans still haven't learnt from history. Put an end to this before they put an end to humanity! The technology is far more devastating than it was then!

      Poroshenko is lying.
      1. Ukraine is responsible for leaving airspace open in war zone
      2. Donbass rebels never had BUK misciles. All fake video which released by Kiev actually shows UKRANIAN BUK #312 transported on the Ukranian territory
      3. Urkanian Army did have 4 divisions of BUK located in that area (why? rebels has no aviation!)
      4. There are satellite images of many Ukranian BUKs in the area. Any of them might shot down the MH17.
      5. Ukranie has military plances intercepting MH17. And it is now confirmed
      6. Ukraine lied saying "we didn't have BUKs or fighter jets in the area". They did.
      7. Ukraine didn't released dispatcher's voice recording, but even more, arrested dispatchers and hiding them somewhere
      8. US saying "they have proof rebels did it" but US is not releasing images or video even if it is well known US did have spy satellite there. Why US is hiding images? The only explanation: that images will show what BUK was actually controlled by Ukraine

The World has chosen and it is not you. You are a blood thursty Jewish pretending to be an Ukranian Fascist. You want to kill and kill the Russians in Eastern Ukraine, just be hand over Ukraine to NATO and you are prepared to do anything. What evidence is there that you have not fired at MH17 when you can readily kill more than 1000 in Eastern Ukraine? The World cannot be fooled by Obama-Kerry-Biden-brezhizhinsky... they are the most evil people of the World today and you are their puppet.

Americans cannot repent because Americans will not confess. The time has arrived that will end the Evil Empire and destroy the Talmudic Tyrant. Even now the oppressed Germans arise once again to demand to expel the synagogues or Satan. END THE FED.

Arrest, Abolish and Exterminate the Kosher Kabal of the Bogus bank of Credit Fraud.

I don't see this as a problem created by Putin of Russian alone, but a problem engineered by the United States of America who hides behind the shadows, at least history affords us a good perspective: what is going on in Ukrain is a war between Russian and the USA. Don't they ever get tired? From Vietnam to Afghanistan, just to mention a few. Yet there is so much propaganda on the Media in an attempt to gain support against Russia. Amanpour talks about truth, but she knows this has nothing to do with truth, David Cameron talks down a stronger nation bullying a weak nation, but supports the killing of innocent people in Gaza by Israel, by not talking Israel down......wake me up from sleep, and I will stand by the USA and Israel, but folks, truth must be told, USA should hands off Ukrain, and truth should be told about world hegemony and dominion orchestrated by the United States of America..... THE WORLD MUST NOT BE DECEIVED BY THOSE IN POWER.....WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS PROPAGANDA

The situation in Ukraine raises too many questions. Poroshenko won the elections while the whole country was fighting and not everyone had a chance to vote. Is he a legitimate president? Ukraine's Rada after presidential elections stayed the same while it should be dismissed and reelected. Is it legitimate? And these people altogether make decisions that affect Ukraine and all people there and the situation is worsening with every day because of their actions. Even if Poroshenko is a legal president then he should started his work from elections to Rada but he alongside with Rada started mass killing of innocent people in the east of Ukraine. He asked the world to make a choice, well, I choose new elections in Ukraine that will help it to become a truly democratic state, not a country with some doubtful leaders who can't solve the crisis and responsible for everything that's going on in Ukraine. People who can't set things right and guarantee people safety should stay aside from power they do not deserve.

      Dear Matt,
thank you very much for your comment.
I've been to Ukraine many times.
The ordinary people are just waiting for someone to come and sort everything out, they continue blaming their leaders.
The country was formed by former Austrian, Hungarian, Russian and Ukrainian territories in the XVI-XXth centuries, so people don't really feel themselves as one solid nation. That's a big problem
So such a thing as a leader for the nation is impossible in Ukraine, unfortunately.
The problem there is: ALL the leaders there are oligarchs with criminal past.

Every new elections will be "choosing the best from the worst" as it was for the last 10 years.

The position of Russia here is "Ukraine is our closest neighbor. If Ukraine feels bad, then we do too, cause weak Ukraine is opened for the ones, who hate Russia and the innocent people will go to Russia (as it's happening right now), and ordinary Russians will pay their taxes to support Ukrainian people, living in Russia".
Think about it, Ukrainians will not go to the US, they will go to Russia, hundreds of thousands of refugees. Most of them are not registered, cause they go directly to their relatives, who live in Russia, and only the ones, who don't have any frends or relatives in Russia are official refugees.

The US are too far from the Ukraine, and all the Ukrainian problems will not hurt the US, but will directly hurt Russia, which is good for the us politicians, and not the people of the US.

A few days ago I was In Paris (France) and have seen a poster on one of bus stops "Stop making war, occupy yourself with European affairs" (the word "war" was painted in colors of Russian and Ukrainian flags). Europeans understand the message correctly – war and problems in Russia and Ukraine are not good for them too.

It is his house in turmoil. It is his problem. He is asking everybody to come in and join the fray that's his business.

But who must pay for MH 17? It is mostly blames trading by all the parties that are one way or another involved in the conflict called Ukraine since day one, the world is seeing there. Politics is muddling the case of MH 17.

We have a commercial plane there that go hit in a war zone killing all innocent civilian passengers. Now who's gonna pay? My guess is, like in the case of the lifeless child that a crying father in Gaza is holding, nobody. Charge them to war. Innocent victims of war, that is how they all ended. And people end looking up to God and ask "why, God?"

If they are summary executions or rape of war captives maybe the world can hang some war criminals.

In the case of innocent victims of war the law is blank.

Ukraine is a former Soviet republic. A leopard can't change its spots, but Poroshenko can!

It's really funny watching Yatsenyuk's interview to blame Russia in the Malaysian plane crash. Because of his look, any statement looks Absurd!

Before the investigation even started, politicians opened up their mouths. Hey politicians, it's a Tragedy, please shut up until the investigation is complete!

Dear readers, thank you all for your comments.
It's really good that people remember how to use their brains and think regardless of what politics are trying to feed them with.

Before you listen to someone, just think who you listen to:
Amanpour is the wife of James Rubin, who is the supporter of Hillary Clinton. In the Clinton administration, he was considered Secretary Madeleine Albright's right-hand man.

What do you expect from her? Being honest?
She'll try to do everything to make the US people hate Russia.

That's sad that many people trust her.

I personally have many friends in the US and Ukraine. All this Ukraine war and tragedies are good only for the US politics, who are trying to hide their internal problems, cause neither Russia, nor Ukraine and Europe need what's going on these months in Ukraine.

Freedom and Democracy have been attacked.
Ukrainians have lost their lives from the start of this conflict in Ukraine for Freedom and Democracy.
Putin had authorized the use of weapons in Ukraine from Moscow, air on National TV.
Russian armed men with Helicopters, enter Ukrainian air space, air on National TV, while U.S. and The World watches.
Green Men from space enter Crimea, and send Ukrainian Soldiers packing. Crimea became part of Russia now, Putin Style, when Ukrainian presidential election pending.
Putin had indirectly and directly attacked Freedom and Democracy, as he campaign worldwide, and his action in Ukraine, with a double standard, meanwhile.
Obama, is waiting for proof in The White House Oval Office, and confirmation, that Russian, are involved in Ukraine then what, as Putin laugh.
While Ukrainians, weak, politically, financially and military, trying to defend Freedom and Democracy. The world including myself bleeds for the innocent victims from, MH17 as Russia claims no involvement.
Russian TV, Kept airing lies to its citizen, and fabrication, which I watch daily.
N.A.T.O. unresponsive Military, action against Putin had put us all in danger as Putin campaign against Freedom and Democracy, testing The World unity.
Putin will from his action continued his assault on Freedom and Democracy, so far in Ukraine hasn't stop.
Putin's continued action, helped escalation in Ukraine, lead the way for the downing of MH17.

Ambassador Samantha Power heavenly spoken words, are words to resurrect you from hell Putin, however she cannot get through your thick skull, defiant ways, she is your savior, make her a deal because not every day she try to save the devil from hell.
Now for those who thinks I dislike Russian, one of my favorite artist is Nikolai Baskov.
Hope someday Russian can have a true Democratic leader and understand the meaning of Freedom.

Guest, stop selling your American Freedom and Democracy!
we've seen it many times – Serbia, Iraq, Libya, Afganistan, etc.

We live with Ukraine side by side, and you don't!
We know what's going on, cause we have tight connections with them (not the TV, but the people), and you don't!

So please stay where you are and get off the rest of the world, stop playing the "good guy", cause you are not!
Stop saving the rest of the world by selling your bloody democracy and killing people!
      Mind your own business!

P.S. BTW, in Russia Nikolay Baskov is not respected at all, he can't sing professionally and he's not really smart

We are still waiting for the Ukrainian government to release their control tower and radar logs, which it has not over 1 week after the crash. This info was released within 3 days after the Pacific Malaysian Airline plane disappearance. We are also waiting for the White House to provide forensic evidence. And, the Ukrainian government must give the details on its planes and missile systems whereabouts at the moment of the crash. To this day, this all betrays a guilty behavior of the Ukrainian government. For what I perceive, they shot the plane.
