North Korea’s vast natural resources and continued exports to China versus the increasing hunger and malnutrition the country faces prove ironic according to most Amanpour’s audience members. Some of the words our viewers used to describe this picture were, “selfishness, communism, dictatorship” and “government poor expenditure of profit received in exchange.”

I think they are conducting an ECONOMIC experiment with this.
The same happened in Iraq. While the Iraqi people were suffering the boycotts and struggling, saddam and his people were living the high life in their palaces of a 1001 nights. One day their day wil come and the Koreans will have their country,. I hope it doesn't happen the way it did in Iraq.
That's communism, same feeling, same strata, same income for the people. The rich n.korean people are who can work really hard and save the money...
But, where's the money gone? Buy some vodka for mr. Kim?
All North Koreans are equal. Some are just more equal than others.
I am surprised that you would say "again" as I never realized that hunger had ever disappeared from North Korea; maybe it had lessened briefly. There has always been huge hunger, emaciated people there and visibly so, and plenty of $ for weapons and development or threat of development of nuclear weapons–not that they work, but...that's another story. All very sad. To hell in a handbasket is much of the world's story.
Well, that is the plight of all developing countries. Until we have a new World International Order am afraid this trend will forever continue.
A New World International Order? Say what? Have you been watching Zeitgeist The Movie?
Christiane, I guess a better way of saying it is, WHY are YOU shocked since you know the country and the world so well?? You must have a reason. So that's what I would like to know. Thank you.
As many "rich" countries, the government spend it the way it wants: armaments, bombs, airpalnes, tecnology to control it's popuation, it's freedom like: KGB , G2 Cuban, xx in China, XX in Irán etc. etc. etc. Those communist countries don't care about it's people at all.
