This matter is a bit more complex than it may appear. The ideology of certain nation states not contiguous with Israel's borders has had an impact on Israel. Before there was the Gaza conflict there were missles coming into Siderot and other places (on kindergardens and other civilian areas) in Israel for eight years. That is certainly no excuse for misshandling matters by Israel. However, we must not ignore the necessity of Israel's response to protect its citizens
. If JFK was willing to turn missels away from Cuba to protect the US why should we begrudge the Israeli government in trying to stop missles coming from Gaza. When military combatants hid themselves in civilian areas in Gaza (which might be considered a war crime in and of itself) "How should the community of naions respond?"
To comment on J street's emergence and AIPAC's influence, I would say that they both have good points. Neither side should seek to exclude the other from bringing up concerns.
My hat's off to CNN for covering this important matter.
The two people interviewed by Christiane implied that Israel is a democracy with equal right for all. That is an absolute lie. Palestinians in Israel are treated like dirt. In the occupied West Bank the Palestinians are little more than serfs.
For years the U.S. Government accepted that as necessary because of the need to have Israel on our side in the Cold War. But now we are slowly getting to accept that Israeli treatment of Palestinians is little different from the treatment Jews received from the Nazi in the thirties. Our nation can not accept that and be a credible international force for good.
No two state solution will work because each side has an overbearing emotional theological need to have the upper hand in the region.
Only a one state solution with all Israelis and all Palestinians (including the ones in Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon) voting will lead to the end of the turmoil and the risk of a total war.
It is time to discuss openly the powerful Jewish lobby in the U.S.. And what impact it has had and still has on U.S. Middle East policy. The Jewish lobby have frequently damaged both the U.S. and Israel, with its uncritical approach to things. It has been so far every time someone criticizes Israel's policy, they have been accused by the Jewish lobby for being anti-Semitic, even if critics have been Jews. It has created an unhealthy climate debate. But it is nice to see this new Jewish organization that will bring a more critical view of Israel's actions.
Adrian Feldman I give you right in many ways, but you must also understand why the Jews in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world feels it is their duty to protect Israel. Jews have historically been persecuted and subjected to many cruel acts. Now they've got their own country, where Jews from all over the world can feel safe and at home. And it is every Jew's duty to defend and protect this nation. As the only Jewish country in the world.

The Jews historically have been subjected to inhuman treatments in various parts of the world. While they sojourned, the world looked the other way. Now the Jews have regrouped and have a home, They need peace. Peace from the world. Peace from neighbors. The Arab world need to give that peace a chance.
