There is simply no hope for this country unless there is a strong sector of society who will support a secular based government and administration modelled on that such as Turkey.
They, the Iranians just go from one extreme to another, generation after generation regardless of monarchy or islamic republic, there seems to be no hope for this country, no middle ground government and no possibility for the west to work with them when there is absolutely no trust on our part for their agenda / intentions.
I believe yet another catastrophe will occur, it's on it's way, Heaven only knows what will emerge this time!

The regime's next move will be more violence against its own people. I would not be surprised if Moussavi turned up dead just like Butto in Pakistan! As far as the Obama administration doing something, the hikers are priority!

Most of the blogs coming from Iran reporting that the counter protest on Wednesday was a government run show. The same but less crowded show that they have been putting on for the last 30 years. I believe when we give the government mouth pieces such as Mr. Marandi a tribune we should confront them when they claim that it was not pro-government by asking them why this type of demonstrations are the only ones getting permission from the government and if it was not staged why they gave working people permission to attend it and they bussed people in from out of Tehran?

Considering that Iran has never interfered in US internal affairs, but the US has a long record of interfering in Iranian affairs, the question should be, "What are the real intentions of the US in 2010 "? In 1953 the US overthrew Iran’s popular prime minister, Mohammed Mosaddeq and installed a puppet who tortured Iranians who desired political independence.

Despite this and other American offenses against Iran, Ahmadinejad has repeatedly expressed Iran’s interest to be on friendly terms with the United States, only to be repeatedly rebuffed. The US wants war with Iran in order to expand US world hegemony.

Marandi doesn't contribute anything useful or interesting to the debate/interview if you ask me.., he's a propaganda agent for the Islamic Republic and most of his claims are laughable.

Fareed Zakariya dissed him on his program and called him on his lies, I wish Mrs. Amanpour had done the same.

Amounpour must be making a fortune from the Islamic government of Iran. She has been silent over the uproar that has taken over Iran. By interviewing this pathetic, heartless agent in Iran and not being critical of his responses/statements, she has shown her true colors. The true champion of the iranian people on CNN is Fareed Zakariya. May he continue to be the voice of the oppressed and jailed. Please stick to Afganistan, Amounpour, it is more your neck of the woods. This interview absolutely warrants no recognition and I petition to CNN for its removal from the internet and programming on the channel. How do you interview a women who barely speaks english and use her as the voice of the opposition. I know she is a very bright women but she cannot articulate her message. Sad day for journalism.

Marandi should not even be given the privilege to be on your show. It is unfortunate to acknowledge his presence, where he is trying to shame the people for using violence.
Note, his (& his father's) relationship to the regime underlined by world renowned director (with heavy contacts) Makhmalbaf: http://homylafayette.blogspot.com/2009/12/makhmalbaf-secrets-of-khameneis-life.html

Ms. Amanpour, as an Iranian-American that has been following these events before June 12th and that adheres to unbiased reports, I kindly ask you not to acknowledge such ignorant individuals that take joy in egregious human rights violations.

It seems of the rare sessions that one from the anti-opposition side is being given an opportunity to express their voice, though is that a lapse of time relative to the volume of main stream media.

The very massive anti-opposition rally on last Wednesday was a record breaking so as made Mr Mousavi moderate his previously manifested claims particularly the election being rigged. And he implicitly called for a kind of peace after 16 letters, in non of which he had retreated from his claims. The demonstration proved to be quite impressive even on the main figure, i.e. Mousavi, at the opposition side and if organised by the government, it shows the level of affection government has on the masses in the Iranian society.

I believe, the Ashoura event triggered the death of the current surge and the opposition with its intrinsic wide diversity, will live at a confined and exiled situation like other movements within these last 30 years.

We have to understand that the majority of Iranians is not what is portrayed by TV channels and on the internet like elsewhere across the globe even in the US. Beside Iranians are not neutral to the politics and they are very active so being overlooked by media does not prevent them to have their say by its means when is necessary.

Seriously, how can Christiane Amanpour NOT be reporting on the people's uprising in Iran. How can she not care about her people or her country? I have never been able to understand how she has stood by all these years and not criticized or attempted to expose the truth behind the Islamic Republic. The place has been a hell hole since the Ayatollah first came to power. Even many who originally overthrew the Shah have had their regrets. The Shah was no prize, but Islamic rule is a horror except for the privileged few. How lucky for Ms Amanpour that her family was able to leave. Is it because she lived such a good life under the Shah that she feels guilty and, therefore, refuses to expose Islamic rule for what it is?

certainly like your website however you need to test the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very bothersome to inform the truth however I'll definitely come again again.
