I'm surprised that Olmert didn't ask how much money Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak invested in oil before threatening to attack Iran. I believe they did this for financial gain. Financial gain that came out of my pocket at the pump. I'd like to see Netanyahu and Barak investigated for market manipulation and I'd like to see a class action lawsuit filed against them with everyone who purchased gasoline during the fallout from their irresponsible saber rattling as a plaintiff. It's Ahmadinejad's last year in office, the Supreme Religious Leader of Iran has issued a Fatwa against nuclear weapons, and Israel might even fail since they'd be engaging a 21st century military.
Israel never had any intention of attacking Iran.
In anoher vein, if Israel is serious about wanting unlimited IAEA inspection of Iran's nuclear
program, perhaps they should offer to open up their own nuclear programs to the same kind of
scrutiny they are trying to impose on Iran.
Finally, I am all for Israel in it's originally UN sanctioned territory.
You can not reasonably call that territory indefensible since it only took Israel 6 days to invade
and occupy all of the land they took from four armies under the pretense of fearing an invasion in 1967.
Thinking that America is gullible enough to fall for that kind of deceitful rhetoric is indefensible.
The legitimate borders of the original Israel are not.
I'm all for Israel but I'm against unauthorized Israeli land grabs and I'm against
subordinating American interests to Israels. I believe that Netanyahu and Barak
would much rather make money than make peace. I believe that Olmert has higher ideals.
At the same time though, my deepest condolences to the Netanyahu family.
I am loathe to call it journalism when a renowned reporter sits down with the ousted PM who is pending a verdict on corruption charges (many of them) sits down to bash the current Israeli Prime Minister while he sits in mourning for his father. Surely if Ms. Amanpour is as educated as she would like us to think, she would know of the long-standing animosity and would see this as the personal opportunity it is, rather than a reflection of any true national sentiment in Israel. What a poor reflection on CNN,
Welcome back on CNN of this outstanding reporter.
Thank you CNN to bringing back one of the best reporters out there.
I am deeply disappointed by the way CNN evolved over the years, becoming more of tabloid just to compete with Fox News.
CA is the real deal.
With respect to Olmert, he might be a criminal but so are all the other Israeli leaders. Israel has become an apartheid state ruled by a coalition of religious fanatics, racists and russian mobster. The only reason it has not collapsed thus far is because it was initially set up with the best of intentions, to house very wronged people.
The American money that keeps it alive is mostly gathered at the expense of ordinary Americans who will one day figure it out. Having US Congress with 9% approval rating or christian zionists who support israel so that JC comes back soon to convert or kill all the jews is not a long term strategy. Neither is the support of AIPAC that gets most of its money from ponzi schemes on Wall Street.
