Egyptian Ambassador to the U.S. Mohamed Tawfik discusses casualties in Egypt and the roadmap for moving forward.
Very well said. I am proud of our Egyptian ambassador in the US. Please listen to what he said very closely. It is time that the USA stands on the right side of history for once. God bless Egypt!! God be with my family and friends in Egypt. I would also like to add that it is a mistake if the US decides to turn its back on Egypt especially at this time. If the US decides to cut off aid to Egypt then they will lose us as allies which is not a smart move.
At least 20 Churches burned in Egypt plus attacks on the library in Alexandria and other terrorist attacks and threats by the Pro-Morsi Muslim Brotherhood protestors!!! And the USA (White house, CNN, etc...) have the audacity to call the Muslim Brotherhood a peaceful organization that deserves a place in Egyptian politics??!! Shameful!!!! The Egyptian government has officially called the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization with their main aim at this time is to burn down/destroy Egypt. Any country that supports the Muslim Brotherhood or sympathizes with their cause is supporting a terrorist organization and is therefore a terrorist country!!! USA is sympathizing with these terrorists!!! How horrific!!!! I am against terrorism in USA, Egypt, and anywhere in the world where it threatens innocent civilians!
The USA wants to cut off aid to Egypt because they want to discourage Egypt from its attempts of fighting terrorism. So, the USA did not think twice about cutting off aid with Mubarak (a dictator) or with Morsi (a criminal and dictator) but now that Egypt is finally getting it right they want to cut off aid. I wonder why? I guess it is easier for the USA to control a weak Egypt that is run by a dictator than a strong free Egypt because the results are not always predictable. Well, too damn bad!! The Egyptians are fed up and will clean up their country from terrorism once and for all no matter what!! LONG LIVE EGYPT!! And God be with my family and friends who are suffering during this horrific time in Egypt! The terrorists are out to destroy Egypt but I know that God will be with the Egyptian people, and will give power and wisdom to the police and army to fight them off and get rid of them forever!! I know that the price is great and many Egyptians are dying for a better tomorrow. I support their noble cause and any noble country that believes in freedom, safety, beauty, and civilization should stand with the will of the Egyptian people against terrorism.
Moments like these in history define the greatness of a country. Egypt is trying to achieve greatness and is fighting with courage against terrorism to try and bring the country back on its feet. However, America’s stance on Egypt shows its lack of greatness and that corruption and self interest in USA are too deep to allow it to support the true noble causes it claims to aspire to. I am hurt and frustrated by USA’s position on what’s happening in Egypt – I am not 100% clear if it is sheer ignorance or corruption.
Like you Sarah, I am proud of our Egyptian Ambassador to the USA. It is sad that Obama is not wise enough to discuss matters with him if not consult him before making such a ridiculous speech. Obama will live to learn that he made a big mistake.
Thank you Sara and Lubna for trying to make our voice heard against blind media and blind American administration.
This is all progaganda by Egypt Military to hide their atrocities..... they are maligning Muslim Brotherhood and sow doubts in western media.....The TRUTH is they mudered democracy....Brotherhood and supporting parties got 76% votes...this indicates Egypt people wanted it.....their VOTE is being HIijacked at the behest of Saudi Arabia and UAE.....the financers of the Egypt Military.... TELL Me how many they killed....NOTHING...all attacks on Churches are being done by Military cronies and their TUGS....to malign the name of Muslim Brotherhood.....
JUST TO LABEL ANY MUSLIM A "TERRORST" TAG IS THE EASEST OPTION FOR THE MILITARY REGIME....AND HIDE THEIR CRIMES OF TERROR AGAINST INNOCANT SIT IN OF THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD SUPPORTERS....WHO GAVE THEM MANDATE TO KILL IN THOUSANDS......TOLL IS NOW - 47000......28000 INJURED......JUST SEE THE BRUTANLITY.....GIRLS AND MEN CRUSHED BY BULLDOZERS AS IF THEY WERE RUBBLE...GOD IS ALL SEEING....A TIME WILL COME WHEN THE CRIMINALS HAS NO PLACE TO HIDE......GOD WILLING.......
Dictatorship is bad but Mors and his radical Islam is neither good for Egypt nor to the world at large. It is like Nazism.
US can side with the Muslim brotherhood at the cost of forcing Egypt to seek help from China and Russia as did Syria who are all facing the scourge of radical Islamists. Obama knows better or does he? The road to hell is paved with good intentions Mr. President. God Bless America.
if u r an indian, stop propogating chanakyan philosophy, which is to kill first and then join mourners and that is what india is doing. u just shut up and b ready 2 face chinese.
Morsi is No Radical......his only crime is that he is pious and Devoted muslim....WHO PRAYS 5 times before GOD....pay charity and DO NOT DRINK ALCOHAL......DO NOT KEEP GIRL FRIENDS....AND HE WANT THE SAME GOOD MANNERS FROM EVERY ONE....THAT IS HIS CRIME....THE EVIL PEOPLE WHO WANT THIS WANT HIM OR BROTHERHOOD REMOVED....THEY WILL NOT SUCCEED.....NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY SUPRESS THE TRUTH......
MB is nazism at best> Look at tunisia. MB assassinated 2 liberal opposition leaders who are muslims but disagreed with MB. is that non violent n democratic?
Majority of egyptians 75% support El Sisi, not MB. Period.
So should the military and police kill 25% of the population because they do not support CC? Isn't that radical in itself and inhumane?
Save Egypt-a great country with cultural heritage from the hands of terrorists.Inter national community has to rise to the occasion. How long the butchery continue?
GOD BLESS NIGERIA FOR WINNING THE TROFY AGAINST SOUTHAFRICA
'Terrorism is the systematic use of terror, often violent, especially as a means of coercion':
More than 500 dead and thousands injured from government estimates...who is the real terrosist here- the Military and its 'puppet' government or the MB ? Shame on you for calling innocent people slaughtered like animals as terrorists!!
You Egyptians should be ashamed of yourselves in bringing back this vile Mubarak era Military rule (same evil sugar coated in a false sense of democracy). 20 Governorships appointed, mostly to army personnel and Mubarak era cronies: http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/egypt-s-new-leaders-push-ahead-with-transition-swear-in-20-governors-1.1408726
Now the stupid, naive Temorad complains ?? Hypocrisy...they were probably sleeping in bed with the Military from the start.
Nooman, you don't know anything about the situation. The current government runs police and army; and to the other way around. It doesn't matter if you believe otherwise. Egypt will become a democratic country despite yourself and all your friends.
I truly do hope Egypt becomes a democracy as you claim.
Would be interesting to see what happens when Mubarak is freed after his hearing on Aug. 25th. If past experience is of use, the expectation is that he too is found not guilty.
Very well said what a presentable ambassador , Barack Obama is making a huge mistake by supporting terrorism under the name of Muslim brotherhoods they are burning churches killing and terrorising moderate Muslims , 33 million is supporting general sisi on fighting terrorism without any intention for ruling Egypt as he promised more than once but American government is ignoring this on purpose
This ambassador loves living in a democratic country but hates democracy for his people.Double standards.Morsi was democratically elected and he should be reinstated. This is a coup.Yea Egyptians do not know the meaning of the word coup.
ElBaradei was cut from a nobler cloth than the ambassador. 525 people killed in a day, and this is the least bad option ?
Well said Mr. Ambassador.
How blind are you to see all those been killed and tortured by morsy supporters, Churches burned by those barbarians then you stand and say they have rights.
Ok, send them to US and see if you will give them same rights!!!!!
Have another election? lets just see whether Morsi wil have another mandate from majority of egyptians? i bet Morsi will find it hard to muster even 25% support. Morsi was arrogant and excluded the minorities who voted for him and replaced democracy with his brand of authoritian rules and laws to suppress egyptians and to consolidate his power instead of being inclusive. I say down and goodbye with Morsi and MB
Jimmy, at this point, it is not about Morsi it is about mass slaughter. The media has fueled ordinary people to accept mass slaughter of people. With thousands dead and detained, the media is not even able to report that they had any serious weapons. Instead, you hear things like them having half a dozen automatic weapons, half a dozen hand guns, half a dozen etc etc.. although I condemn the use of weapons completely, I believe the right thing to do is to get rid of the weapons and deal with the people in a just manner, not kill anyone and everyone.
The army is slaughtering people. Hundreds of them a day. Please look at that in youtube. Is that something that you can accept? Disgracefull....
Its 2 terrible. America shld read d handwriting on d wall. Morsi is gone and so forever
US president insted of saying such demorolising words he would have utilised the time to look on ways on how to remedy the worse situation in Egypt. But GOD is going to remember our beloved EGYPTIANS from diabolical forces and hard situation they are in,GOD BLESS EGYPT.
In the first place, MB started the shooting. The military gave MB plenty of time to leave and negotiate. But Mb wanted to incite chaos and riots by asking its members to take to the street and to be martyrs hoping that MB can regain power. But the majority of egyptians are against MB. If you are so concerned about 1000 people losing their lives even though its unnecessary, you got to remember its an egyptian affair. If you so against it, why didnt you stop from killing 100,000 syrians? Pls watch dateline london on BBC and get the real view of the Egyptian crisis from Abdullah, an eqyptian journalist, onhow the crisis came about and the right steps atken by the military.
The very heart of your writing whilst sounding reasonable in the beginning, did not sit very well with me after some time. Somewhere within the paragraphs you actually managed to make me a believer but just for a while. I however have got a problem with your jumps in logic and one might do well to help fill in all those gaps. When you actually can accomplish that, I would certainly be fascinated.
